Cribbage is a card/board game for two or more players. It's an ancient game, said to have been invented by English poet John Suckling in the early 1600s. Strictly speaking, Cribbage is a card game, but since it's so often played with a Cribbage board for scoring, it's listed here on Board Game Central.
The game has simple rules which can be learned in just a few moments, but offers surprising strategic depth, and rewards careful play. Playing cards are used to play the game, while the board is used to keep score, typically using metal pegs that are inserted into holes in the board. Cribbage players are often referred to as "peggers" for this reason.
